Colt 1911 WW1 Commemorative Collection
Availability: Out of Stock!
In 1968, Colt honored World War I by releasing a commemorative Model 1911 to recognize four of the war’s most significant battles. Each model had a standard production run of 7,400 units and was based on the Pre-Series 70 design. To maintain historical accuracy, these pistols featured flat mainspring housings, long triggers, checkered slide stops and safeties, wide spur hammers with checkering, and Type II beveled rear sights. The inscription notes that the “U.S. victory at Chateau Thierry contributed decisively to the stemming of the German tide.” The left side of the slide displays a roll-engraved battle scene, while the right side features a World War I banner with the dates “1917–1967,” marking the 50th anniversary of America’s entry into the war.
